About [Edit]
The Learning Network explores various approaches towards holistic learning. This network helps learn about new perspectives and strengthen existing efforts. It is a resource for interested groups, educators and parents seeking meaningful approaches to education. The network explores a broad area of education. Through its activities - it hopes to provide a forum to come together, participate and search for answers to these and many such pertinent questions:
• Can education be defined as learning for life and through life experiences?
• How can education play a role in creating a peaceful society?
• What are the linkages between education and local communities
• How can education lead to socio-economic change?
• Can we address the fact that we require not just skills for our living but also a spirit to enquire into human problems?
• Can education become person and ecological centered instead of just economic centered?
• Can we enrich the experience of disadvantaged children in conventional schools?

I started my formation following what now in Europe is called non formal education in February 2007.
What I can say is that now I am here interacting with you, discussing about these very important, foundamental questions.
For my experience outdoor, learning by experience methods changed my way to live my life, to perceive my desires and opportunities, my approach to myself and to reality I am inserted in.
So for the first question I think yes: education can be defined as learning for life and through life experiences
Addictionnaly Education should be defined like that!
Education could play a role in creaing a peacefull socety undelining the importance of natural life.
Part of conflicts are generated by competition. Natural competition between humans and also with nature is surpassed and it was connected manily to basic needs.
What we could do is to teach how to avoid competition. All our economic system is based on this concept so it was normal that also education was oreinted to this. Eliminating competition and attitudes to it maybe we could start to solve some social conflicts.
The links between education and local communities are a lot.
I can only exemplify. Education could have an impact on:
- social behaviours
- society harmony
- respect and sense of community
- community autonomy and inner capacity building, so community growth and development
- community evolution, innovation
........I mean the future of that local community can be completely changed only educating in some ways its active population.
Leading change means reforming so education could lead change reforming itself coherently with the change it wants to create.
For the last three: yes, yes and yes!!!!
Thanks for making me reflecting on this topic!!
