The Northlake Museum and Nature Center, Inc. was established in 1982 by as a project of the Greater Covington Junior Service League as an independent non-profit corporation directed to preserve, study, and publicly exhibit the natural and cultural resources of the Florida Parishes in southeastern Louisiana.
Purpose:
To Foster an Appreciation of the Natural, Cultural, and Historical Resources of St. Tammany Parish.
Vision:
To Establish Northlake Nature Center as One of the Most Creative and Enjoyable Environmental Education Facilities in the Gulf South.
Mission:
* Providing and promoting environmental education to the public, schools, environmental groups and government officials.
* Promoting good natural resource conservation practices, especially of our native habitats, and assisting interested groups with stewardship projects.
* Forming academic alliances with area schools, colleges and universities..
* Exhibiting, maintaining, and restoring the native habitats and species of Louisiana.
* Providing our guests with a peaceful setting for relaxation and reflection.
* Providing outdoor recreational opportunities, such as hiking, biking, and canoeing.
