Introduction

OEC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit health and human services organization established in 1971, in response to massive Boeing layoffs resulting in an increased need for social services in the community. Over the years, OEC programs have expanded. OEC is a multi-service organization whose programs include the largest food bank in King County, a clothing bank, emergency assistance of utilities, employment and transportation support, health education, infant mortality and prevention, birth – 5, information and referral, a homebound program of food delivery to seniors and those disabled, a holiday gift shop and adopt-a-family program, community volunteering and basic food education and outreach including benefit enrollment.

Mission Statement

OEC’s mission is "to help solve temporary crisis and facilitate long term stability while fostering self reliance for King County families and individuals who are at risk." OEC core programs include: Food Bank, Clothing Bank, Information and Referral, Emergency Assistance of utilities, employment and transportation, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Child, pre-birth – 5 (Infant Mortality Prevention), Holiday Gift Shop and Adopt a Family program, Basic Food Education and Outreach, (including other entitlement enrollments), Homebound Food Delivery, and community volunteering for youth and adults beginning at age 11 and above.

Emergency Services

=-istributing food, clothing, household supplies, and hygiene products, five days a week in the case of an emergency. -tility Assistance for residence residing within the City of Seattle limits. -ransportation bus tickets for individuals seeking employment and going to medical appointments. -nformation and referral gives information that connects people with resources they seek. Basic Food Education and Outreach and Medicaid Enrollment -rovides assistance to Seattle/King County (South Seattle) communities of individuals and families in accessing Basic Food and Medicaid benefits in Washington State. Community Food and Clothing Bank Provide nutritious self-selected food for all in need who reside in Seattle/King County. Provide food delivery to homebound individuals and families owing to immobility due to disabilities and/or age. Community Volunteers Agency offers an opportunity for individuals and families to volunteer within a variety of programs and administrative needs throughout the organization. Opportunities may include: on-going and/or one-day only events. Holiday Gift Shop and Adopt-A-Family Program Matches businesses, service groups, faith organizations and individuals with disabled children/youth, seniors and people with disabilities during the Holidays. The Holiday Gift Shop allows individuals and families to shop in OEC’s Holiday Store for themselves and family members which are supplied with all new gift items.
