Our Mission



The Opportunity Agenda is a communications, research, and advocacy organization dedicated to building the national will to expand opportunity in America. In partnership with social justice leaders, policymakers, and social scientists, our interdisciplinary team works to:



Elevate the national conversation about opportunity by:

Lifting the voices of spokespersons—including human rights advocates, social justice and civic leaders, public officials, scholars and others who share with the American public the threats to opportunity and the steps that are needed to realize our nation's full potential;

Working with the media—including mainstream, online, ethnic, and alternative press—to provide them with the information and sources they need to create compelling and accurate stories about opportunity in America; and

*

Connecting with creative professionals to promote a creative culture of opportunity. Through the use of multimedia products such as videos, podcasts, publications, and strategic media partnerships, we help Americans tell stories about opportunity in their own lives.



Harness social science research to identify barriers to opportunity and policy solutions that eliminate barriers and expand opportunity for all. Utilizing innovative research tools, we create reports, fact-sheets, and policy briefs that are designed to be accessible broad audiences, while at the same time are tailored to the needs of advocates and others working in the field.



Identify innovative policy solutions that expand opportunity for all. Working with legal and policy experts, social scientists, and social justice leaders, we advance, through our communications and research products, policies that embody our highest national values, capture the imagination, and improve people's lives.



By employing a coordinated strategy that includes communications work, research and policy analysis, and advocacy, The Opportunity Agenda ties together the work of diverse social justice and issue groups, and creates effective strategies to expand opportunity in America.
