About [Edit]
Kongowea Youth is non profit community based organisation started in the slums of Mombasa (Kongowea)
In a troubled slum and unsettled world, the Kongowea Environmental Youth was formed as a Local Community Based Organisation (CBO) with aims and objectives of providing a cleaner and greener environment with to facilitate and ensure environmental and social responsibility are enhanced within the society to cooperate and liason with schools, institutions, and as well as manufacturing sectors on conservation and recyling methods. Last but not least to ensure a high moral standard is enhanced so as to avoid epidemics such as STD's early marriages especially being a muslim town, commercial sex workers teenagers due to the AIDS Scourage, HIV and AIDS, drug addiction in teen.
Under the same organisation, there is a children's centre to cater for children orphaned by AIDS. Since it is not easy to provide intervention in every area of HIV/AIDS, Kongowea E. Youth chose to focus on the area of HIV/Aids orphans.
Literally, thousands of children are being left orphaned and homeless daily as the HIV/AIDS virus sweeps across the globe. It is estimated that by the year 2010, there will be over 40 million children left orphaned by this horrendous disease.
These orphans and communities to which they belong face a heavy financial and emotional burden without families to care for them, without education, or hope, these children will resort to crime, violence, and desperate measures in order to survive. Many of these children will die of AIDS themselves. This detrimental situation was the basis the formation of this children's centre. Kongowea Environment Youth centre was established in 2002 with the primary aim of caring for HIV/AIDS orphaned children with an initial focus on orphaned girls.
Vision and Mission
Its vision is that orphaned children shall have alternative home and grow in an atmosphere conducive to their development.
The mission is to improve the quality of life of AIDS orphans by providing assistance through food, shelter, clothing, education, discipline, counselling, music recreation, and nourishment with the word of God.
We hope to promote the childs development lovingly and caringly in a holistic manner.
