About [Edit]
AFPLI/APPLI uses proactive grassroots peacebuilding initiatives to foster peace, love, justice, and ethnoreligious harmony in Africa.
Our Vision
To promote Africa, the Future Land of Peace.
Our Mission
To promote projects that will give peace as alternative
to violence and war, love as alternative to ethnic hatred, hope as
alternative to despair, and wholeness as alternative to diseases and
decays, which are the direct consequences of violence and war in
Africa.
Our Objective
Our objective is to encourage Africans to say NO to wars and violence
but to say YES to peace, and most importantly to enable the
grassroots to cultivate a new lifestyle of peace and take initiatives for
homegrown peace efforts.
Our goal
Our goal is to create a new African constituency of Ethnoreligious
harmony.
Events
Last year, we celebrated the 25th International Day of Peace from September to December, 2006. Our activities included seminars, workshops, and conferences accompanying the launching of various grassroots proactive Peacebuilding clubs.
Notably, we celebrated the 25th Anniversary at the Lagos Island East Local Government in Lagos State. We visited the palaces of the Oba of Lagos, the Oba of Isolo, and the Bale of Mende. Members of the African Children of Peace visited the Lagos State Governor at Alausa; they participated in the Igbo Action Solidarity Rally, organized Air Safety Prayer at the Murtala Muhamed Airport at Ikeja, and celebrated a state-wide end of year peace parties.
Since the beginning of this year we have launched more grassroots proactive peace building clubs across the country, conducted street peace rallies, including rallies for the peaceful 2007 Nigeria General Elections. We gave peace awards to several media houses and community leaders; and we featured and promoted grassroots Peacebuilding and Ethnoreligious Harmony on the radio, television and in newspaper interviews.
This year we have started as early as August 30th, 2007, with the launching of our KAIROS Peace and Love Club at the Osun State College of Education at Ilesha.
We plan to continue with the peace program for this quarter as follows:
