I just found your organization through WiserEarth. I am an artist in Baltimore, and am connected with a small foundation that sponsors artists of various ilks to work with people who are experiencing medical or psychological illness. I work at 2 cancer centers and 1 psychiatric hospital, offering small art projects for distraction, self worth and collaboration exercises. I am not an art therapist, yet feel that any involvement with the arts when you're ill is therapeutic in itself. Am always looking for ideas of short-term projects to do bedside that can be finished in an hour or less, that are contained and do not require "talent" on the part of the patient. I have a range of photos that I can share of what I've found to be successful in the past year, with both small groups and individuals at bedside (receiving outpatient chemotherapy). It is a challenging environment in many ways, but I find it rewarding, especially as a cancer survivor myself, who continues to live with symptoms from treatment.
