About [Edit]
Background: Sister Namibia Collective was founded in July 1989 by women who have committed themselves to participate in the process of nation-building by focusing on the struggle for gender equality.
Objectives: The objective of Sister Namibia is to contribute to gender awareness by establishing a women's communication and publishing centre. Members of the collective seek to influence social change and development by documenting the many forms of oppression experienced by women, and by promoting the energies, visions and work of women.
Activities: The Collective is publishing the first women's magazine in Namibia; encouraging debate on the empowerment of women and the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women; building a women's resource centre of literature on gender issues; and encouraging a literate culture among women by conducting writing workshops and reading evenings.
