About  [Edit]

Mission

Society & Animals Forum, Inc., (formerly Psychologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), a 501(c)(3) organization, produces educational programs and materials on the relationship between human and non-human animals.

The objective of Society & Animals Forum is to reduce violence against human and non-human animals. The organizational activities include publication, design, production, and distribution of journals and other educational materials, workshops, and advocacy programs.

Overview

To reflect our expansion and name change revisions we have reframed the organization into three Divisions: Academic, Education and Training, and Research. Rather than a dramatic shift, the three distinguish the several areas that we have been working in for several years, as follows:

1. Academic Division - The goal of this Division is to advance the field of human-animal studies.

2. Education and Training Division - Our goal is to promote programs, materials, tools and workshops for professionals in the human services and allied health professions, related to the relation between human violence and animal abuse.

3. Research Division -Our goal is to advocate for alternatives models to eliminate exploitation and suffering of animals in biomedical and psychology labs and classrooms. Emphasis is placed upon sharing expertise and working to develop alternative models for use in biomedical and psychology arenas; providing students with support for non-animal classroom dissections.
