About  [Edit]

MISSION:

To educate and empower individuals to create environmentally, economically and socially healthy and sustainable lifestyles, organizations and communities now and for future generations through experiental education, community service projects and connection with and celebration of nature.

PROJECTS:

The Greening Our Community project is intended to be an educational and community building tool to make visible existing options and promote the further development of creating healthy and sustainable communities. It is a wholistic model for engaging community members in integrating green and sustainable principles and practices into their lives and all aspects of our local economy. It is also a vehicle to engage youth in learning skills as they educate themselves and others about living and working sustainably.

The first component of the project being developed is a Community Green Guide
– a directory of green and sustainable businesses, not for profits, and governmental agencies. It will also include a calendar of events, a blog, interviews with local green experts offering information for ‘greening’ your home & garden, neighborhood, workplace, school, place of worship, transportation, and personal life. Our framework will be applied first in the Triangle, NC area, and then offered to other communities around North Carolina, followed by regionally, and nationally.
