About  [Edit]

Million Ideas for Peace was inspired by the work of the hundreds of thousands of  activists, non-governmental organizations and everyday people, with a desire to impact our future through positive change. It is dedicated to anyone looking to contribute their ideas and gifts to a more peaceful future -- from the simple to the sublime.

Founded in 2007 by Lucy E. Garrick, a management consultant with a passion for learning and leadership, Million Ideas for Peace is about contributing to the cultivation of positive and transformational change in service to peace within, between and among. It is an experimental movement, that seeks to be inclusive and is based on the theories of positive psychology, social networks and living social systems.

With change happening so quickly in the world, people are voicing their desire help, yet many feel overwhelmed by all that is not working in the world. There is a shared sense of busy-ness going nowhere. What choices might be possible for humanity if:

  • we learn to recognize the value and impact of our active contributions to peace-making, ordinarily taken for granted?
  • we practice supporting the peace-making potential in each other -- even when that potential appears absent or dormant?
  • we commit to making just a few more active choices with peace as our purpose and our strengths and passions as a foundation from which to draw?
Our Purpose
  • To raise awareness about the everyday acts of peace (active peace) in which we already engage
  • To challenge ourselves to infuse our daily lives with increased intention toward active peace
  • To serve as a hub for an ever-evolving global network of peace-makers, providing information, connection, and resources
  • In the future, we plan to provide educational programs, invest in research and knowledge-building that support the connection between peace-oriented activities to individuals and communities.
