About [Edit]
The Permaculture Institute of Northern California is an organization which provides courses and workshops that enable people to live a more sustainable life on the planet. Located in a developing permaculture garden on the Point Reyes Seashore in Northern California, the Institute provides various programs through which students and associates can learn the skills and practices necessary to live, and help others live, sustainably. Courses include workshops on earth activism, bird tracking and language, and urban permaculture design.
Permaculture is a practical set of ecological design principles and methods for human settlements which can be applied to urban, suburban and watershed scale. Permaculture principles provide a way of thinking that enables people to establish highly productive environments that provide for food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs. These principals are rooted in careful observations of natural patterns and can be applied to all climates and a wide variety of cultures from indigenous to technological.
