Background: HUREPAN was established on August 24, 1994 in order to protect human rights and work towards an end to environmental degradation and racism.
Objectives: Its objectives are to promote non-polluting industries; educate the public how not to destroy the environment while exercising their human rights; work towards worldwide peace and rule of law; denounce discrimination on the basis of gender; cooperate with other groups with similar objectives within Nepal; and to contribute to public awareness through the use of publications, radio and TV ads, seminars and meetings.
Activities: Since its founding, HUREPAN has been active in a number of programs, including humanitarian assistance for Bhutanese refugees in Nepal; demonstrations against the violation of human rights in Bhutan and Burma; and seminars and workshops addressing the protection of children`s and women`s rights in Kathmandu.
