About  [Edit]

Save Our Shores is a non-profit marine conservation organization with a home base in Santa Cruz, California, and a satellite office in the Half Moon Bay region. Our mission is to protect and conserve the marine ecosystems of California`s central coast for all generations.

Since 1978, Save Our Shores has led citizen-based advocacy for marine conservation on the central California coast. We began as an advocate to ban offshore oil drilling, and in 1992 helped to secure sanctuary status for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, the largest in the United States. Save Our Shores continues to lead marine resource conservation through innovative public education, policy research and development, and citizen action campaigns.
