About  [Edit]

AERO is a grassroots organization whose members are working together to improve the quality of their lives, their communities and the environment. A Montana-based nonprofit organization, AERO serves the needs of people working to promote renewable energy and conservation, sustainable agriculture, and greater community self-reliance.

AERO`s Buy Local Food and Farm Products Initiative is working to strengthen connections between local food producers, consumers, and retailers/outlets in Montana. The goal of the initiative is to create community based food systems that foster the social, environmental, and economic health of Montana communities and agriculture.

The Initiative seeks to:

1] Increase and expand local outlet opportunities for locally grown foods thereby increasing producers` net profitability.

2] Build awareness among consumers about the importance of eating locally.

AERO is convinced that food - the way it`s produced, processed, and distributed-offers a path to environmental and economic health for Montana`s communities.

In 2007 AERO published "Repowering Montana- A Blueprint for Home Grown Energy Self-Reliance." outling how ALL of Montana's power needs can be met by using conservation and clean, renewable energy while creting jobs, saving money, and revitalizing rural and urban communities.
