About  [Edit]

Ahimsa Sanctuary is a non-profit permaculture-based retreat center dedicated to non-violence. We are located on 25 acres of magical rainforest in the Oregon Coast Range, less than an hour from most Willamette Valley locations and two hours from the Portland Metro area. Events and retreats are offered on a donation basis, with contributions used to support nonviolence education projects.

At Ahimsa Sanctuary we are committed to learning the path of peace, developing a retreat dedicated to organic, sustainable living.

Current projects include natural building , organic agriculture (market gardening/orchard), permaculture landscaping/waterworks, nonviolence education & community building. Our sister project is Intaba's Wood Fired Eatery, an organic restaurant in neighboring Corvallis. Apprentices will work and study at the Ahimsa homestead, at Intaba's restaurant and on other land leases.
