About  [Edit]

BAWA (Burmese American Women's Alliance) is a non-profit organization dedicated to help the men, women, and children of Burma. We are working on making an official website so that we can keep all of you informed on current events happening in Burma and keep you posted on events that BAWA will be throwing.

In certain areas of Burma, men, women, and children are being forced out of their ancestral lands so that the Burmese government can lay down oil pipes leading from Burma into surrounding countries. Families are being forced out of there homes being left homeless with no where to go. It is true that are some refugee camps families can go to however, not all of the people are being helped... thats where we come in.

We are trying to raise money to help the people of Burma who are suffering due to these horrible events. Also, we are raising money to donate to the orphanages in Burma so that children (whose parents have either been killed or had left them at the orphanage so that they might be able to live a better life) could afford essential items they need such as clothes, soap, food, and toys.

If you have time, please join our yahoo group so that you can be sent an official registration form to join BAWA. To join, simply go to Yahoo groups, search for BAWA (you may need to enter Burma next to it) and join the Yahoo group.

It is true, we are a small organization but if we can get more people to join, one day we may be able to go global and make a huge difference. Every person counts. Please invite as many people as you can to join this group.

Thank you,
Kimberly Hwe
