About the Ecological Farming Association

The Ecological Farming Association [EFA] is a non-profit educational organization that advances ecologically sound and economically viable agriculture. EFA can be traced back to 1981, when a group of California farmers sought alternatives to fossil fuel and chemical intensive farming methods. What began as a single gathering of a few farmers has grown into a series of education programs spanning over two decades.

EFA’s education programs have reached more than 40,000 participants during 25 years. Through consistent quality of rograms, EFA has developed a far reaching network of people and businesses committed to sustainable agriculture. Our programs bring together a diversity of stakeholders in California food production to promote grassroots leadership and regional solutions to decrease the negative impacts of industrial agriculture on environmental and community health.

Our Mission:

The Ecological Farming association is dedicated to the development of ecologically-based food systems, both domestically and throughout the world by:

* Educating farmers, the agriculture industry, and other stewards of the land about practical and economically viable techniques of ecological agriculture,

* Informing consumers and policy makers about ecological food production and its connection to the health of people and communities, and

* Promoting alliances between individuals and organizations who share our vision of a transformed global food system.
