About [Edit]
TED is a project of the Sapling Foundation which is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It
started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from
those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
The annual conference now brings together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).
This site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free. Almost 200 talks from our archive are now available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted.

Let's be less particular about the rules- its about the spirit of the law, not the specifics of the law! It's a great organization whose resources should be featured as much as possible imho :) |

Have to agree with Chuck (trilemmaman). Simply excellent!

One of the greatest resources for learning new ideas and seeing another way is possible.

Hahaha so now wonder. Thanks for sharing that. Well anyways, its also today's featured org, but most likely there won't be similar exceptions in the future.

Oh. I just realized there is a problem in adding TED talks as resources. BMW funds the publication of talks and tacks an ad on at the end of every talk. This would violate the no commercial ads policy. Geez... if there was an exception though, this would be it. The speakers are typically perfectly in line with the mission of WE.

I hope we can figure out a way to import all the talks as resources from TED to WE. I sent an email to June to figure out how we can cooperate.

I was surprised TED wasn't on here already...But now I see why...I just realized that its a LLC, which means technically it shouldn't be on WE. But, TED is more of a conference that definitely is worthy of recognition, and has a website which offers free videos of the talks.

I'm addicted to TED! I'm glad to see it's finally represented here.

@Daniel:
The comments about TED being not fit for inclusion in WiserEarth took place before we make it possible for progressive for-profits to be included in the organization directory, which was made effective somewhere in August last year. So, I'm changing the page status from "in discussion" to "active". And yes, the videos definitely needs to be featured as much as possible imho too :)
