About  [Edit]

Eurosif, European Social Investment Forum, was created in 2001 to serve as an umbrella association to cover socially responsible investment issues at the European level.

The approach to SRI has specific national characteristics linked to the particularities of the structure of financial markets and the legislative and cultural environments of each country. Eurosif takes these factors into account and addresses SRI issues with the European scope in mind.

Eurosif members are made up of the national social investment forums in Europe (SIFs) who govern Eurosif.

Eurosif member affiliates are organisations who join Eurosif as financial sponsors of Eurosif’s mission.

Mission

Eurosif is a pan-European group whose mission is to:
Address Sustainability through Financial Markets

Current member affiliates of Eurosif include pension funds, financial service providers, academic institutes, research associations and NGO's. The association is a not-for-profit entity that represents assets totalling over €600bn through its membership.

Eurosif members are made up of the national Social Investment Forums (SIFs). The 5 initial SIF founders are from France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and the UK. The Belgian SIF has recently joined as a member.

The activities where Eurosif focuses resources revolve around helping the affiliate membership with Promoting and Networking (both SRI and their own services).  Eurosif has four main activities:

  1. EU Lobbying: Eurosif picks 1 to 2 topics to follow at the EU level and ensures that the affiliate membership’s views are represented. Member affiliates are invited to attend meetings with EU actors.
  2. Research: Eurosif provides member affiliates with privileged access to current research on legislation, policies and practices for the integration of social, environmental, ethical and governance issues into European financial services.
  3. Initiatives: Eurosif participates in a number of pan European initiatives with member affilliates such as Pension Fund collaboration, Trustee education and Guideline development.
  4. Events/Communications: Eurosif organises or participates in about 6 events per year on the state of SRI across Europe and invitations to international events.
