About  [Edit]

This group is an ACTION-oriented group focused on developing innovative, creative, out-of-the-box, FUN solutions to sustainability "problems" in the areas of energy/power/renewables, carbon mitigation, food security, recycling/composting/gray water, transportation, land use, environmental education.

The members are representatives of city/county governments, sustainability/environmental/technology development businesses and nonprofits, funders with deep pockets, as well as artists, designers, inventors, engineers, mechanics from the Burning Man community and beyond.  The idea is to connect the ingenuity, out-of-the-box design strategies and the humor of Burning Man artists and activists to those forging the arena of sustainability problem solving.

The ethos is based in open hand, open source, cooperative development of projects that address immediate, localized sustainability issues.

This is a participant-driven group, which meets once a month in a casual setting in the SF Bay Area, providing 2 presentations on innovative projects, discussion of what is needed and how to accomplish, specific project development, and open networking.  The goal, beyond information sharing, is to identify specific sustainability needs/issues and develop specific solutions that are innovative and fun, as well as to access available funding for project development and implementation.

The on-line group includes active related listings for: Jobs, RFPs, Sustainability and Arts Calender, Calls for Art, Award Ops, Open Source Project info, Best Practices, News, Emerging Technologies, and updates on the Soiree happenings.  Again, the contents are provided by participants.
