About [Edit]

Students Organizing for Sustainability is a Georgia Tech student-run group running grassroots campaigns on a wide range of environmental, political, and social issues in order to promote the greater goal of building a more sustainable campus, community, and world.
These issues may include, but will not be limited to:

Bringing more nutritious, local, and organic foods to Campus
Improving on-campus recycling
Converting GT's shuttles to run on renewable fuels
Pressuring for new sources of clean, efficient energy
Water conservation
SOS will also look to form coalitions with other like-minded organizations to create an effective network of student activists. Members will develop leadership and organizational skills that will allow them to continue advocating sustainable practices long after graduation.
We plan to reach our goals by holding weekly meetings, fund-raising, organizing service projects, building support for our campaigns within the Georgia Tech community, raising on-campus awareness about issues related to sustainability, and working with the Student Government Association and other institutional authorities.

I love the creativity of this organization page! Is SOS an organization that might benefit from having a group on WiserEarth as well.

Hello and want to say well done. Great to see students involved and aware. Also good to see you in the georgia usa network. We wish you the best and look forward to co-creating with you.

Just want to say "Go, Georgia Tech". It's the constant formation of new organizations and groups and people working to make their corner more joyfully responsible and sane that makes this network (wiseearth) the best news media I've seen.
I'm from Eugene, Oregon where there are several CSA's; some of us prefer to shop at the Farmer's Markets, which are also several now, throughout the week; and we have some groceries that make a big point of posting local sources of produce and other foods. |
