About [Edit]
Terra-Forma Education is a 501(c)(3) corporation that was formed to cultivate an understanding of interconnection between diverse human communities and the planet through the arts, the sciences, myth and adventure. In our summer day camp programs, children ages 6-10 become part of an adventure that develops around them. During the week they interact with characters, follow maps, find clues and work with other children to complete their challenge. The storylines are drawn from myths and legends of many different cultures and take place within the context of assisting with a relevant environmental issue. For example, one week the children are challenged to help Poseidon save the waters of the Earth. The programs are designed to incorporate hands-on science activities in the field, active exploration and discovery of nature's wonders, community development, team building, imagination and storytelling.
We are currently developing a new program for pre and young teens that is designed to provide these youth with a means to deal with the many and varied obstacles that face the youth of today. We hope to create for them a Rite-of-Passage that is both challenging and meaningful for them and their community. This will be an ongoing project where participants along with their parents commit to the Fellowship and will be challenged to complete certain tasks consistent with displaying the characteristics of compassion, responsibility and self-confidence. As they complete each challenge they will be rewarded and encouraged to reach additional goals, in hope that they develop into mentors and expand the community.
