Seeds Savers is a foundation that works to preserve traditional varieties of useful plants across Australia.
Australia wide, there is network of around 50 groups aiming to distribute old traditional open pollinated varieties of vegetable seed, preferably old Australian varieties and organically or bio-dynamically grown where possible. We like the idea of trying to preserve the genetic basis of tomorrows food.
A local seed saving group has been now been founded in Townsville. We aim to find, grow and distribute seeds adapted to the local subtropical climate, particularly of vegetables and herbs as well as plants that are propagated by tubers, cuttings, rhizomes, bulbs, etc,
