About  [Edit]

Preserve Our Islands is an all-volunteer, community-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the quality of life and environment of Vashon and Maury Islands and the adjacent nearshore.

The proposed expansion of the Glacier Northwest sand and gravel operation on Maury Island poses a number of serious threats to this small island, its shoreline and ecosystem, water supply, and residents. Preserve Our Islands is committed to serving the interests of the Vashon/Maury Island community by insuring that the proper scientific data is available to permitting agencies and that all environmental and legal protections are brought to full consideration.
