ABANTU For Development (ABANTU) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1991 by African women based in Europe. The organization has regional offices in Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria. The Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa ( ROESA) based in Nairobi, Kenya was set up in July 1995.
ABANTU means "people" in many languages, and symbolizes our people-centred philosophy.
Our Vision
A world in which African women and men are equal partners at all levels of economic, political and social development.
Our Mission
To empower African people, particularly women, to participate in poverty alleviation, governance, technology usage, conflict-resolution and peace-building issues at national, regional and international level.
