About  [Edit]

Communities in Action for Peace (CAP), Pittsburgh, PA:

Since 1994, CAP has provided an open forum for groups, agencies, and individuals to join forces in violence prevention.  Its mission is to promote healthy communities by reducing violence and its causes in a non-traditional and culturally sensitive manner.  Programs sponsored by CAP include a speaker's bureau and youth group activities.

The "Sign for Peace" project brings a pledge and expression of peace to community events such as health fairs, schools, forums, conferences and communities of faith.  The youth activities include the Youth Dragon Boat League, open to youth ages 12 to 18, where youth learn the sport of dragon boating as well as teambuilding and celebrating cultural diversity.

The Peace Bus provides fun-filled educational activities such as arts & crafts, storytelling and peace building for children up to age 12 and beyond. CAP also sponsors a youth leadership development conference.  In 2008 CAP added peace-building as a focus and will be providing training on "Creating A Culture Of Peace."
