The Mission of FORUM-ASIA is to promote and protect human rights for all, and to purport the right to development through collaboration and cooperation among human rights organizations in the Asian region.
The spirit of the Mission is captured in the organization's motto: Asian Solidarity and Human Rights for All.
To achieve this mission, FORUM-ASIA will draw on its Vision statement as its principal guideline. It will also take into account of its multiple identities and employ a set of Organizational Values and Operational Principles, as elaborated below, to bring a positive outcome for human rights in Asia and beyond.
Our Vision:
The Vision of the FORUM-ASIA is a peaceful, just and equitable society, where all human rights are fully respected, and ecologically sustainable development is adequately promoted.
Organizational Values :
FORUM-ASIA as a non-governmental civil society organization firmly believes in the following human rights values:
- Equality of all human being(s) and non-discrimination
- Universality and indivisibility of all human rights
- Interdependence and inter-relatedness of human rights, democracy, development and peace
- Peaceful and non-violent conflicts transformation
- Ecologically sustainable human development
- Gender equality
- Cultural diversity and Multi-culturalism
- Autonomy and independence of civil society
- Democratic participation, transparency and accountability
Operational Principles:
FORUM-ASIA has adopted and upheld the following principles in its organizational operations at all levels:
- Grass-root, victim-oriented and people-centred approach
- International solidarity and people's empowerment
- Participatory and member-centred policy
- Proactive partnership and cooperation based on common vision and values
- Team spirit and work for synergy, coherence and inter-linkage
- Balance between process and result
- Harmony between organizational and personal growth.
