Background: The Helsinki Association, founded in February 1997, is a non-governmental organization focusing attention on problems of human rights, a free press, and legal reform.



Activities: Among its activities, the Association monitors the situation of human rights, provides legal education and consultation to citizens, and educates society and government on the need for protecting basic human rights. The Helsinki Association also operates legal counseling offices in three regional centers, publishes a Bulletin, and networks with rights-oriented organizations outside Armenia.
