About  [Edit]

Mission and details:

The mission of Western Watersheds Project is to protect and restore western watersheds and wildlife through education, public policy initiatives and litigation.

WWP is a 501[c][3] membership corporation founded in 1993 in Hailey, Idaho, by conservationists Jon Marvel, Linn Kincannon and Lynne Stone. In 10 years, the progressive conservation group has greatly expanded the scope of its efforts and geographic range of its work, with offices in Idaho, Utah and Montana, and activities in eight western states.

WWP works in partnership with several other conservation groups, including the Oregon Natural Desert Association in Oregon, Forest Guardians in New Mexico, the Center for Biological Diversity in Arizona, the Committee for the High Desert in Idaho, the American Lands Alliance in Washington, D.C; and the Larch Company in Ashland, Oregon. Together, they lead the

National Public Lands Grazing Campaign, which seeks federal legislation for a voluntary federal grazing permit buyout program to compensate ranchers and restore public lands.
