About [Edit]
- The Women's Employment, Enterprise & Training Unit (WEETU) was set up as an independent voluntary agency in 1987 in Norwich and is a Company Limited by Guarantee (not-for-profit).
- WEETU is a Social Enterprise which is defined by the DTI as 'a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.'
- WEETU is a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI) defined by the Community Development Finance Association (CDFA) as 'sustainable, independent organisations which provide financial service with two aims: to generate social and financial returns. They supply capital and business support to individuals and organisations whose purpose is to create wealth in disadvantaged communities or under served markets.'
- WEETU is nationally recognised as a model of good practice and has received a Flagship Status award from PROWESS (Promoting Women's Enterprise Support Services) for provision of high quality enterprise support.
