About  [Edit]

Pacific Environment protects the living environment of the Pacific Rim by strengthening communities, promoting grassroots activism, and reforming international policies. The Pacific Rim is one of the most biologically diverse regions on Earth, as well as one of the most environmentally threatened. From China to Alaska, Russia to California, Pacific Environment is protecting the Pacific Rim`s wild places and wild life.

For nearly two decades, Pacific Environment has been at the forefront of efforts to protect and preserve the ecological treasures of the Pacific Rim. With our partners and supporters, we have:

1. Protected millions of acres of wilderness

2. Spearheaded efforts to protect endangered species like the Siberian Tiger and the Western Pacific Grey Whale.

3. Stopped the construction of oil pipelines, dams and mines.

4. Forced international financial institutions to adopt higher environmental standards.

Our Strategies Include:

1. Supporting Local Environmental Struggles: We dedicate over one-third of our budget each year to funding grassroots organizations that address critical environmental threats like illegal logging and over-fishing.

2. Holding Banks and Corporations Accountable: We confront public banks that back oil, gas, mining and timber extraction and the companies that profit from these often-devastating projects.

3. Promoting Best Practices: We support sustainable fishing, green energy and other initiatives that put environmental protection first.

4. Building a Global Movement: We forge coalitions and partnerships with environmentalists and impacted communities around the Pacific Rim. We`re building a global movment to deal with the global threats we face.
