About  [Edit]

Progressive Secretary is a way for citizens to speak out on issues that concern them, especially on economic justice, humane treatment of prisoners,  preservation of the environment, peace, civil rights, and a sane and just world

Progressive Secretary sends out letters to Congress, the President, and other officials on peace, ecology, civil rights and other issues from a progressive point of view.

The letters are suggested by participants in the cooperative and are emailed to you as a proposal.

If you tell us to "send", then the letters are sent to your Congress people and others noted in the proposal over your signature and return address. A report is sent to you.

Progressive Secretary is simply a secretarial service that shows you a finished letter. If you say "send" then our computers go to your congress person's web site, an enters your information as well as the letter.

The letters are always brief and clear, because we've found that makes them more effective. All you need to do is read them. Progressive Secretary, working with an all volunteer workforce, does any necessary research, writing, editing, proofreading, and sending out.

The letters are usually proposed to us by participants, and often come from projects by such groups as Amnesty International, Friends Committee on National Legislation, National Organization for Women, and Working Assets.

A letter proposal from Progressive Secretary includes the subject, who the letter goes to and a website for more information.
If you don't like it, ignore it and we take no further action. If you want to modify it and send it out yourself, that is all right, too. But we never send the letter for you unless you tell us to.
