The name ABC in Swedish stands for ‘Aktiva insatser med världens barn i centrum’, which when translated to English means ‘Active contributions with the children of the world in focus’, or for short ‘Active Aid’. ABC started as a dream in the mind of Ann Ottengrim in 1997, and through the hard work and dedication of a small group of friends, became a reality one year later in 1998. ABC came to life in the city of Lund in southern Sweden and here it remains today. While it has developed and positively impacted the lives of many individuals since it’s beginning, this support organisation has intentionally remained personal and small-scale and is as focused as ever on the goal it began with: engaging in activities that directly improve the lives of those in need, namely children and their families.



The foundation of ABCs work is based in education, health care and meaningful income-generating occupations. The work performed by members of ABC is characterised by small-scale, long-sighted and environmentally aware activities and comes in the form of close and personal contact with local organisations. ABC focuses on helping people to help themselves, which is important for long-term engagements.



ABC - Active aid is a Swedish humanitarian aid organisation, registered under Swedish law and founded in Lund, Sweden in 1998. The main objectives of our work is to support and strengthen underprivileged people. Our field of work is within education, health care and meaningful income generating work.



Our work is characterized by small scale efforts, long term thinking and environmental awareness, and is always shaped in close cooperation with local organisations with the idea to form a way to help people to help themselves.
