Background: The Centre was founded in November 1991 as a project of the AWCC, then later registered as an independent body in August 1994.



Objectives: Its aims are to promote and protect human rights in Croatia, in accordance with international standards, so as to increase awareness of human rights generally, and about war-related violations in Croatia in particular.



Activities: The Centre collects general information on human rights as well as data on human rights violations in Croatia. In some instances, press reports and publications are translated and disseminated. The Centre also attempts to influence the reform of the legal system in accordance with human rights standards, and it seeks to promote human rights education, including producing and translating human rights teaching materials to use in schools.
