The Ryan’s Well Foundation grew out of the commitment of one boy, Ryan Hreljac, who learned of the great need for clean and safe water in developing countries. In 1999, at age seven, Ryan’s first well was built at a school in a Ugandan village that continues to serve thousands of people. Ryan continues to engage youth around the globe and inspire countless people of all ages to take action in the quest to provide clean water, improved sanitation and health and hygiene education to those who need it most.

Ryan’s Well has three primary goals: BUILD, EDUCATE and MOTIVATE – building water and sanitation projects in developing countries; educating students about the need for clean water and the possibility of making a difference in their world; and motivating  people, especially youth, to take action and make a positive change in our world. Founded in 2001, Ryan’s Well is a registered Canadian charity (No. 88858 7110 RR0001).

EDUCATE – Educating on water and sanitation facts

The Foundation's Youth in Action program is a unique water education program designed to EDUCATE people about the need to conserve water and the need for clean water and sanitation. The Youth in Action program educates students about the importance of clean water and encourages students to become active, responsible citizens of the world. This elementary and secondary curriculum is tailored to help inspire students to find where their ‘puzzle’ piece fits in our world and take action.

MOTIVATE – Motivating Future Leaders 

The Foundation started with the ambitious dream of one child - for all people to have clean drinking water.  We provide a platform for all people, especially youth, to share this vision, and to empower them to make a difference. Ryan continues to spread his message and encourages others to pursue their own projects and passions.
