Green Camel Bell (GCB) is the first voluntary environmental organization that was established on Nov. 4th, 2004. Its goal is to engage in environmental protection and to contribute to improve the increasingly destroyed ecological environment in West China.

Ever since establishment GCB, in accordance with its constitution, purpose and goal, has focused on the following primary efforts, including ecological environmental protection in Gansu Province, settlement of environmental problem in Gansu Province by taking effective measures, environmental education to elementary and secondary school students, development of environmental students communities from Gansu Province universities, organization of environmental volunteers to train and improve themselves. By doing so, GCB plays an active role in environmental protection in Gansu Province, dissemination and education of environmental protection drive, and development of local environmental organizations.

Ever since establishment GCB has successfully embarked on series of activities such as Exchange Fruit for Greeting Cards, Gansu Flash Design Contest of Environmental Protection, Protection of the Mother River - to Build a Green Homeland, Green China for the Coming Olympic, Gansu College Students’ Green Camp 2005-2006, "Conversion Cropland to Forest and Grassland" Policy and University Students Forum. In addition to that, GCB has completed the first and second market survey about Saiga antelope cornu, and launched a series of environmental education programs including Environmental Promotion and Education in Minqin County, Environmental Education Training Program of Antelope Car, Construction of Environmental Education Base in Lanzhou, Volunteer Promotion in Lanzhou Zoo. Otherwise, GCB has implemented completion program of the first "Green Map" in Lanzhou, GCB also published and distributed interchange materials of environmental protection such as GCB Newsletter, Gansu College Students’ Green Camp Literary Collection. At present, GCB are carrying out the following programs: Water Environmental Protection in Gansu, Gansu Minqin Desert Area Textbooks of Environmental Education for Rural Regions, and Gansu Environmental Organizations Capacity Building.
