About [Edit]
Our Mission
To enhance the well-being of the underserved people in El Salvador through human development programs implemented in partnership with our in-country sister Foundation, FUSAL, and other organizations.
Our Vision
We are working towards a future where all citizens of El Salvador can meet their basic human needs.
Goals
Construct a Health Center at the Libertad Housing Development.
Continue working with several local Non-Government Organizations in El Salvador to support their earthquake re-construction projects.
Inform the Salvadoran-American public on the humanitarian efforts being carried out by the Foundation and expand its database of sponsors.
Establish new sources of in-kind contributions.
Expand sourcing funds to include Foundation Grants.
Initiate exchange programs between US-based Hospitals and Academic Institutions and their counterparts in El salvador.
Programs:
In Kind Distribution
The core of SAHF`s mission is based on maintaining and increasing the lifeline of shipments to El Salvador. SAHF`s humanitarian assistance consists of procuring the following:
Pharmaceuticals
Medical supplies
Basic diagnostic equipment
School supplies and furnishings
Nutritional Supplements
Professional training for rural health promoters
Human Development and Rural Health
This program provides alternative services in health, nutrition, and environmental awareness to underserved and geographically difficult to reach populations of El Salvador.
Permanent Education Program
This program has as its goal to open an informal education alternative without granting any academic degrees, which includes the organization of diverse training activities such as: courses, seminars, symposia and qualifications, that deal with relevant topics for the improvement on the quality of health services. In order to teach these training sessions, we created alliances with prestigious institutions such as the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Chile, the Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud [CES] and CINDE, both from Colombia.
Housing
It is through this endeavor that the Foundation hopes to encompass all the aspects of human development by building several communities that will benefit nearly 15,000 earthquake victims. Most of these communities will have access to new schools, clinics, parks, and police surveillance – giving the residents an added quality of life that they did not enjoy before.
