About  [Edit]

ATMA serves as a meeting-ground and forum for media professionals who use their work to support the transformation of the media industry as well as the society in which it operates.

We support the cultivation of personal, professional and creative integrity in the media business, and encourage the creation of programs that educate and enlighten as well as entertain.

To this end, we provide a friendly, non-competitive community where people from all branches of the media can gather for creative interaction and inspiration.

Our Approach

Lasting, meaningful change in any society must arise from within the hearts and souls of its members. Any effort to change our environment without first changing ourselves is doomed to failure. We can only truly teach by example.

Therefore, ATMA's approach is to share tools of wisdom, understanding and personal power, so that we may all stand firmly grounded in our own personal integrity.

It is, in essence, a warrior's stance - the courage to face our own hidden fears, so that we can resist the forces that tend to pull us out of integrity.

We support our members in living the truth of their convictions, and standing for this truth in their work as media producers. This stand opens a world of possibility that allows us to create transformation in every area of life.

"ATMA" is a form of the Sanskrit word for "Soul."

ATMA engages in a variety of activities to support the pursuit of these goals:

  • Development of an online Media Resource Bank, with research and information on media events, funding sources, distribution sources, intern opportunities, and many other resources--including work in progress on the creation of a Talent Resource Bank--which will list Production Crew and Resources.
  • Media Forum - an online publication venue for articles, interviews, commentary and critique on the state of the media. We are also working on creating message boards and a media blog in 2007.
  • Publication of a quarterly E-mail Newsletter, ATMA NEWS,with community news, member announcements, resources and media events
  • Social events with presentations and opportunities for members to showcase their work and network (guests are welcome at the events)
  • Offering of a variety of professional and consulting services and training programs

Code of Ethics

ATMA is a professional media association founded on the principles that each of us creates our own perception and experience of reality, that we are each responsible for this experience, and therefore accountable for our attitudes and our actions.

ATMA members are committed to acting with the highest level of integrity, in order to foster enlightened business practices based on cooperation and trust. Each member of ATMA is expected to be responsible for their own business and personal interactions.

ATMA does not espouse any particular causes, religions, spiritual or new age practices or organizations, although we accept and respect different perspectives that foster truth and well being.
