Who We Are
Carpooltool.com began its life as a project of the Waterloo Public Interest Research Group with regional coverage (Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph) in 2001 and expanding to national coverage in 2003. Now an established success, management and ownership of the project has been passed on to the CarpoolTool team, now known as Pathway Intelligence Inc. Strategic partnerships with DMTI Spatial Inc. and WPIRG will continue, with new alliances formed with The Jack Bell Foundation and the Smart Commute Association.
A heartfelt thanks to all of the organizations that supported this initiative at its inception: initial software development by Jason Hildebrand at PeaceWorks Consulting. Partial funding of development of the beta version of Carpooltool.com (operating as Carpooling.ca and serving Waterloo-Wellington Regions from September 2001) was provided through project funding of the Kitchener-Guelph Traffic Reduction Initiative by Human Resources Development Canada, the Region of Waterloo, the Cities of Guelph, Kitchener, and Waterloo, Guelph-Wellington Credit Union Community Action Fund, and OPIRG-Guelph. Thanks also to the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
