About  [Edit]

Bat Conservation of Wisconsin Inc. is a non-profit organization devoted to educating Wisconsinites on the world's only flying mammal. Bats have long suffered at the hand of man due to myth and irrational fear. It is our hope that, through increased awareness, people may begin to recognize the gentility and environmental benefit bats truly represent.

Our Mission:

- To protect the balance of human and bat co-existence on earth

- To provide education, research, management, inventory and monitoring of bat for the staste of Wisconsin.

Education:

Develop educational materials relevant to Wisconsin and provide these to organizations; promote collaborative educational programs between Bat Conservation of Wisconsin Inc. and other organizations; develop educational workshops for interested parties; and work with animal control and public health officials.

Research:

Identify requirements for nursery and hibernation roosts; establish baseline populations and trends; and to quantify the value of bats for the state of Wisconsin.

Management:

Identify, protect, and enhance key roosting, feeding, and drinking resources for bats.

Inventory Management:

Inventory and monitor caves, mines, and other natural and artificial roosts and habitats that support bat colonies and populations. Supporting the principles of the Coalition of North American Bat Working Groups and Bat Conservation International.
