Background: BHRC was established in 1986 as a voluntary, non-political human rights organization dedicated to the development and preservation of human rights, including the rule of law and peace.
Objectives: Its objectves are to educate members of the society about their basic human rights; to spread legal literacy and knowledge among the poor; to conduct and promote research into areas of the law relating to human rights; to suggest reforms that will lead to the removal of injustice; and to investigate human rights violations and bring them to the attention of the public and the authorities.
Activities: BHRC programs include: para-legal training on human rights and development; fact-finding on human rights violations; alternative legal aid and public interest litigations, research, and human rights documentation.
