About China AIDS Info
China AIDS Info is an independent, non-commercial, non-profit group working to improve access to information about HIV/AIDS in China. We are developing a network of mostly Chinese journalists, translators, NGO-workers, and of course people living with HIV/AIDS to gather, translate, and disseminate the latest information about the AIDS epidemic. All are currently working as volunteers, though we hope to add full-time paid staff if we can secure funding for our operations.
This site is initially concentrating on monitoring the Chinese press for news about HIV/AIDS, and posting regular English translations of news from the Chinese media. We will gradually expand to include analysis and reference materials about issues like Treatment, Prevention, China's drug industry, and anything else that affects efforts to combat the AIDS epidemic in China. A summay of AIDS-related projects, both government and non-government, and a list of Useful Contacts will be another online resource.
In the near future, we will begin sending out weekly E-mail updates of HIV/AIDS news from China and a quarterly Newsletter of more in-depth analysis. Please check back at this site later, or send an email to information@china-aids.org and indicate your area of interest (eg., Treatment, Education, etc.) if you would like to subscribe.
As the scale of China's AIDS epidemic becomes clear and both government and non-government bodies work to stop the spread of HIV, there is a clear need for accurate information. We hope that this site and our electronic and paper newsletters will provide not only the latest news about HIV/AIDS in China but also become a source of frank, honest discussion and analysis of the epidemic.
