About [Edit]
San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project is a network of citizens, farmers, chefs, gardeners, teachers, and students working to encourage the growth and consumption of regional food. From farm to fork, we focus awareness and work toward a more ecologically sound, economically viable and socially just food system in San Diego.
By eating locally, not only do you get fresher, better-tasting food, but you also help support family farms and encourage a vibrant local economy.
Our mission is to strengthen the local food movement in the San Diego region and to create a sustainable urban-rural partnership that brings healthy local food to our communities and sustains the working landscapes and people that feed us. We are accomplishing this with two active programs: the Terra Nova Garden at Morse High School, and the Willow Glen Farm Project.
The Terra Nova Garden is teaching high school students how to grow delicious, nutritious and culturally relevent foods using sustainable, organic agricultural methods. Produce grown is used as ingredients in the school's culinary arts program.
The Willow Glen Farm, currently under development, will be a sustainable farm and education center offering classes to students and adults and growing food for sale and distribution in the community.
For more information on all of these projects, visit our website: www.sandiegoroots.org.
