About  [Edit]

Oak Foundation commits its resources to address issues of global social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged.

The Foundation's programme priorities and areas of particular emphasis are:

Child Abuse:

Prevention of and recovery from all forms of child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation, including trafficking in children.

Innovative and collaborative programmes that advance learning and direct servicing for at-risk or abused children.

The Child Abuse Programme priority countries are Switzerland, Bulgaria, Latvia, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania. Depending on the Trustees’ special interest, the programme also supports a selected number of innovative programmes around the world.

Environment:

Advocating for the protection and sustainable use of marine ecosystems in Europe and the Bering Sea Region.

Direct support for the effective management of marine reserves in Belize.

Addressing global climate change by advocating for renewable energy and energy efficiency in the power and transport sectors through education, research, and policy change in Europe, Canada, and the Northeastern United States.

Housing and Homelessness:

Preventing homelessness through sustaining solutions that improve the economic and social wellbeing of the most marginalized youth and adults.

International Human Rights:

Improving the administration of justice, preventing torture, rehabilitating torture victims, protecting human rights defenders, supporting refugees, and asserting the native title claims of indigenous peoples.

Issues Affecting Women:

Addressing violence against women, including domestic violence and honour killings, and women in conflict and refugee situations.

Preventing trafficking of women, especially in Southeastern Europe.

Addressing issues affecting single mothers.

Grantees in the Issues Affecting Women Programme usually, but not exclusively, work in the U.K., Switzerland, Denmark, Eastern Europe, and some African countries.

Learning Disabilities:

Especially assisting young people with dyslexia.
