About [Edit]
Picture Florida as a landscape of spectacular wildlife and a mosaic of preserved natural resources.
Envision sustainable communities throughout our state where children and adults can share and marvel at the wonders of nature in their own backyards.
Visualize all of Florida as a place where we can concurrently benefit from land conservation, wildlife preservation, eco-tourism and agriculture.
Audubon of Florida is committed to making this vision a reality.
Audubon of Florida is a 100 year old conservation organization that places people in the center of efforts to save species and protect special places; that embraces prosperity as a tool for environmental protection; that is rooted in the values of community leadership, science-based decisions and firsthand outdoor experience.
Our unique assembly of active members in every Florida community, environmental learning centers and nature sanctuaries, professional staff influencing public policy, and a diverse board of selected and seasoned state leaders is poised to solve the conservation challenges of the next century.
Audubon`s aim for Florida is to promote and establish a new century of conservation and to continue the protection of wildlife and conservation of our natural resources for future generations to enjoy. This is a difficult task, as we are faced with the impacts of population growth, pollution, and urban sprawl. The challenge will be to make our homes, neighborhoods, and natural areas part of a sustainable Florida. Yet sustainability will not be a success unless we work towards a healthy Florida economy which depends on a healthy environment.
Audubon of Florida, our science, our members, our place on the landscape, our commitment to people, and our focus makes us a vital force in Florida`s future. The hope for every river, lake, shore, and forest, depends on turning the majority of Florida residents into active conservationists. We can enjoy the benefits of a productive economy while protecting our natural assets. Audubon of Florida is saving land and engaging people for future generations.
