About [Edit]
Who are we?
SNCA is a group of citizens of Sarasota County, Florida, who recognize the dangers and challenges that global warming present to our area and the rest of the world. We feel compelled to educate ourselves and others about climate change and its causes and take action to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases in our own households and in our cities and county.
What do we do?
We learn and pass on what we learn through our website, newsletters, emails, and community outreach efforts. We lobby our city and county governments to reduce greenhouse emissions in their operations and to work toward building a sustainable community. We will join with similar groups to work toward these goals in the state of Florida, in the United States, and in the world.
How can you get involved?
Become a member and strengthen our grassroots effort. You can join on our website or by sending an email with your name to joinsnca@gmail.com. You can elect to receive emails and the newsletter, which will provide further opportunities for action Our website will be regularly updated with information on events and actions you can take. In order to make a difference, we will need many people of varied talents and available time. Opportunities for action will range from writing letters to local officials, attending city or county commission meetings to show support when a crucial vote occurs, helping organize special events, and improving the energy-efficiency of your home and transportation methods (tips are available on our website). With your help, the opportunities to make a difference are unlimited.
