About [Edit]
How We Work
China Conservation Blueprint
The Nature Conservancy has been invited to help guide a nationwide assessment of China’s conservation priorities based on our conservation work in northwest Yunnan Province and the success of our partnership with the Chinese Government.
Alternative Energy
To reduce the demand for fuel wood and address serious threats to biodiversity and human health, The Nature Conservancy is partnering with Chinese government agencies and the US Environmental Protection Agency to introduce alternative energy technologies in rural homes and schools.
Photovoice
Originally conceived by Caroline C. Wang of the University of Michigan, Photovoice uses photography to give people a chance to record their lives and culture and communicate their values to others.
Education for Sustainability
A new program launched by The Conservancy which tests approaches to teaching and learning that integrate conservation goals, social justice, and participation in a vision for personal and social change.
Green Tourism
The Conservancy is working with local communities, government agencies to promote "green" tourism. Green tourism will limit the footprint of mass tourism while generating income for local people.
Saving the Alpine Mosaic
Of all the ecosystems in northwest Yunnan, the alpine mosaic is perhaps the most diverse. The Conservancy is mapping and assessing the current ecological and socioeconomic status of these alpine ecosystems, as a precursor to planned conservation action.
Range-wide Conservation Strategy for the Yunnan Golden Monkey
One of the most endangered species in the world, the Yunnan golden monkey lives at the highest altitude of any primate and is considered to be one of China’s national treasures.
