The Community Foundation was founded in 1989 as a result of the Futures 2010 Conference, led by community leaders to determine what infrastructure had to be in place in order to sustain and strengthen our cities for the 21st Century. It was determined that a community foundation was needed - and for 16 years the Foundation has responded to urgent needs in the community by raising awareness and distributing funds to meet those needs.
