To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth`s ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out those objectives.



Through grassroots activism, public education, lobbying and litigation, the Sierra Club works to protect the health of our environment and the preserve our remaining wild places.Inspired by nature, we work together to protect our communities and the planet. The Club is America`s oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.



If you live or work in the metropolitan Washington area you will have many opportunities to participate in local outings and chapter activities, as well volunteer to support local environmental issues.
